Lorraine is a Consultant Physician, at University Hospitals Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust. After reading Husman Sciences as a first degree, she qualified from the University of London in 1992 and trained in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine in Birmingham and London. In this time she developed an interest in bariatric clinical medicine and was appointed Clinical Lecturer at the then Royal London Hospital. She became a Consultant in 2004, in Acute Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology and worked in Portsmouth from 2004 to 2017.
Lorraine has been involved in the commissioning, initiation and running of Tier 3 services across 4 different providers, both in the community and in secondary care. Since 2007 she has been part of the highly regarded Bariatric Surgery Service at St Richards Hospital Chichester, and in 2017 became their lead Physician.
She has a wide-ranging role including assessment and management of patients, design of care pathways across primary and secondary care, as well as being a Director of Medical Education with a keen interest in teaching, training especially in the Obesity space. Lorraine is associated with Brighton and Sussex Medical School and with the University Chichester, where she has recently been appointed Visiting Professor.
